Jamie Josephson is currently the Laboratory Director for the independent lab at Brown & Associates and has served in this role since 2011. Ms. Josephson brings 32 years of laboratory experience in Anatomic Pathology to Brown.
Ms. Josephson started her career in 1989 at a private Moh’s (micrographic surgery) lab while she was attending college in North East Texas. After 2 years of working with skin biopsies, she relocated to Utah where she connected Dr. John Gerwels, M.D., a dermatopathologist. Together, they opened the first Moh’s clinic at the University of Utah. She received her Histology registry and certification with The ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) in 1991. She credits her vast technical knowledge of Moh’s, Histology and Cytology to the four years she spent at the University of Utah.
After living and working in various states, she relocated back to Texas in 2005 where Ms. Josephson began working as the Anatomic Pathology Manager at St. Joseph Medical Center in downtown Houston. In addition to managing AP, Histology, and Cytology, she also managed 100+ clinical laboratory accounts as the Client Service Manager. She also managed a fleet of couriers and vehicles in addition to being the LIS (Laboratory Information Systems ) Coordinator for AP Services.
In 2011, Ms. Josephson was directed by her mentor towards an opportunity at Brown & Associates as the Laboratory Director and she has never looked back. At Brown, Ms. Josephson leads a robust laboratory of histology techs, lab assistants, and transcriptionists. She works closely with each of Brown’s pathologist to create an efficient, well organized, CAP accredited laboratory. She also works closely with Brown’s clients and is able to step outside of the laboratory to give them a personal touch that comes with a private laboratory. She is highly active with The CAP (The College of American Pathology) and enjoys traveling to various laboratories to help with their inspection processes. Jamie has cultivated a team of highly respected techs and a work environment that she is extremely proud of.
